I have a Logitech VX Nano mouse and a Dell XPS M1530 laptop with VIsta Home Premium 33bit. Using 3D Max 9 SP2 32bit. I really don’t understand why this mouse will not let me arc rotate holding alt and the middle mouse button. I never changed anything after installing Max on the laptop. How can I fix this? It’s really messing the workflow up.

Seems it’s been mentioned the Logitech mouse drivers sometimes messes with this
or as found in a search (entering “Logitech") the settings for the mouse can be adjusted.
See #3 (not the third entry counting the original post but #3 in the responses) in this topic: http://area.autodesk.com/for...behavior-changed-in-2008/

Tried to uninstall the SetPoint software but still no dice… MX518 on the desktop is fine but it doesn’t have side to side scrolling. I’ll try the hold then pan attempt.

In the topic I referenced he is using the Logitech software and adding the function to Max by choosing max.exe as the selected program. Did you try that?

and

Haven’t figured this out because I still can’t scroll around like you should be able to… Thanks for the quick responses though. It’s greatly appreciated…

There isn’t the option to select a task in your screen.
Is there a reason why the interface is different?

Not that I know of. It’s setpoint 4.40… maybe they’ve changed it? Also found something called “Free Spin” under a Manage Programs button. However, I don’t know what that means or how to change it from No to Yes

I have a Logitech mouse also but do not install the mouse drivers either,
I just let windows take care of it.
You could try uninstalling all the Logitech software including mouse drivers,
I take no responsibility, however.
(sorry, needed disclaimer)

Tried that too. Uninstalling SetPoint did nothing. Vista just recognizes the mouse as HID-compatible mouse.

You do have your middle mouse button set to Pan/Zoom in Max Preferences, of course.
