So I’m rather new to 3DS, I’m taking classes for Modeling now, but there is an issue I’ve been having that no one can seem to help me with, I was hoping you all might know how to resolve this.
So I have this object I want to apply Symmetry to, and I understand for the most part how Symmetry works, but the problem is that Symmetry is being aligned according to my object’s axis, and I can’t seem to find a way to realign the axis, before reading below, please note I aligned object to world, then rotated back into the alignment I needed in case that would solve the issue. It doesnt.
EDIT: The images uploaded in reverse, how embarssing. Please note this on the steps below.
So what it illustrated below is:
1. My object
2. Applying Symmetry
3. Choosing to affect pivot
4. Aligning pivot to object
5. Rotating pivot to align with the world, in hopes that this is affecting the object’s pivot???
6. Reapplying symmetry to behold the failure :P
Any help would be so appreciated!

Hi Evan, try this: Go to the utilities tab on the command panel. In here you will find the Reset XForm click on this then go back to the modify panel. You will now see the Reset XForm mod on top, if you apply the symmetry mod on top of this it should now work for you. You should really collapse the stack when using the reset XForm ( remove the symmetry mod first ) if you can back to an editable poly then reapply the symmetry modifier.
Cheers.
