Hi all,
I ended up finishing a sculpt in Mudbox and exported it as an obj file. Once I attempt to reimport it into max 9, A window pops up telling me that there are “Identical Points In Face” and gives me a number. I’m wondering what this means and if the file is corrupt.

Never seen that one before. Sounds like the mesh is corrupt, or at least it’s corrupt in some way that max won’t understand. Where did you get the original mesh you displaced in mudbox from?

Sorry don’t check here often. I built the mesh myself. I’m wondering if it’s just too large a file (I was exporting the fully sculpted mesh). When I exported a midlevel of the mesh, it worked just fine. A friend mentioned that max has real issues importing high rez meshes greater than 1,000,000 poly’s.

Yes, max does have lots of problems importing meshes bigger than a million. However, what usually happens is max crashes on import, it doesn’t pop up a message like the one you’ve seen. I wonder if somehow the mesh is corrupt, but only at the larger polygon levels inside mudbox? Anyways, sorry I can’t help more, you’ve got a bit of a mystery on your hands.
