One year ago, I have made one scene file with 3dsMax8 and SitniSati Afterburn 3.0 and Dreamscape 2.5.
Today I tried to load the scene in 3dsMax9-ServicePack2 and Afterburn3.0A and Dreascape 2.5C.
Rendered a frame range from frame 250 to 300, with standard Max scaline renderer.
At frame 259 I got one Warning message about a error:

Warning - the software has encountered a problem:
-----------------------------------------
Assertion Error Information:
In file:’e:\max6sdk\includer9\point3.h’

Line: 196
-----------------------------------------
Continue?

I clicked Continue and all rendered OK.
I think that the problem refers to the Afterburner plugin or Dreascape plugin.
Therefore 3dsMax9 resumed the rendering correctly...I think.

After that I tried to render the scene file with Backburner ServicePack2 NET renderer (Version 2007.0.2.224.
I need Backburner because I changed a few things to the scene file such the increased number of particles.
This is time consuming for the rendering process, so I need the NET rendering.
But at frame 259 I got the same error message in the LOG file:

2007/12/28 17:18:58 ERR Error message: e:\max6sdk\includer9\point3.h #196

My questions:

1) Is it possible to display with Backburner, the alert popup window that appears also during the standard Max Scanline rendering?
How can I do to Continue the rendering?
I don’t see any Continue button nor some option dialog!

2) If it is not possible to display the Alert popup and click the Continue button:
Can I bypass this error message and continue the NET rendering of the frames that cause the errors?

I checked also in the NetworkJobAssignment the option “EnableNotifications”, but I don’t see any alert window nor popup…
Please help!

Ok.
But just to understand in depht Backburner:
is it possible to bypass and suppress the error messages and continue the NETrendering?

This can help me in future in the situations where I get further warning messsages or errors.

You would have to RUN max on each machine locally.  Load the offending file., Render. Answer NO in the error dialog and the warning won’t show up again. It WAS a divide by zero error so you ought to get the actual patch. If you are using a cracked version .. that’s gonna be a problem.
