my pivot point (not working, just the regular one) randomly seems to be resetting, i can’t work out if this is a new feature that means the old tools work differently or not, but its driving me nuts, i rig a complete robot model, then whole thing is dependant on where i have placed pivot points, then i try to move stff and it stops rotating around the pivot point i set.

when i go to effect pivot, it seems the pivot point is in the correct place, although the editing cursor is gone??? what does this mean and am i doing something wrong, because everything was working so far, then i continued and it seems to have knocked out all my pivots.  I don’t want to use working pivots for the time being i just want to fix my original ones. as soon as i eit efect pivot, it pops back to the wrong location, even though that location is the centre of the model, its not where i reset my pivot too.

please help,

many thanks,

alex

many thank,

al

When you say “gone” do you mean “not visible”? Try pressing “X” and/or Views > Show Transform Gizmo
Other than that - no idea - I can’t make it happen here.

Any chance of a small example scene where it’s going wrong?

3ds max 2008 xp pro sp2
Same problem here.
If I use the working pivot (which is kind of a vital feature) and then Press UsePivot off, my gizmo wont center itself on any selection made after using the working pivot. Can’t seem to find this in the documentation. X is only to toggle gizmo visibility, even when the tranform toggel is off in expert mode you still see the selection axis, and this jumps around the viewport at random independant of whether the gizmo is visible or not. To fix this max has to be rebooted.

Ah got it, well at least in my case the selection center flyout set to just that put everything right.
