Hello friends !
I use reactor.
How can I increase the density of an object ?
thx,
bernhard

I use Havok1, with 3dsmax9.
The test is simply. a plane, and a box - how to increase the density the box.
can’t find any settings or options to give that object specific values for the density.
thx for every little help,
bernhard

I was going through the help files - thre is no description how you can change just the value of the density.
thx,
bernhard

no, it’s no plugin, because reactor comes with max....
and there is nothing in the help file that would help me for that question…

Its not called density, its called Mass in the Properties rollout of the Utilities panel.
If you know the Volume, and the Mass, you can calculate the Density.
From Wikipedia:
In physics, density is mass (m) per unit volume (V) — the ratio of the amount of matter in an object compared to its volume. A small, heavy object, such as a rock or a lump of lead, is denser than a larger object of the same mass, such as a piece of cork or foam.
To find the volume of an object, use the Measure utility.

hmm, well, yeah, I realized, when I change the size of the box it changed the density from the error message.
bigger = less density
but when I change the mass in the properties, nothing changed....
it’s really hard: I get the warning message that the density of the object is not ok, but what to change now ?
as I said, I tried to change the mass - really nothing changed.
I changed the size - and yeah, I realized if my object is bigger, the density is not ok.
I think I need to check my world settings, something must be wrong.
thx,
bernhard

I just needed a definition of Density. In this particular case, it is accurate.

@private message:
I chekd it, but I didn’t get any.
@Density:
The definition of the density, well, that’s teh question to the developers of Havok. And why we can get a warning message while analyze the world with the density, and why there is no more description about the reactor settings. A little bit poor for that big package, sorry for that, but I think that’s mainly the issue, because there is nothing more to find about that.
Would I realized was, that tat if you change of coruse the world settings, it’s influencing every single object in reactor. That makes sense for me, but I really would appreciate it, if there would be much more explaination about that tool - nice to see the ragdoll tutorial inside, but that alone doesn’t describe the entire connex.
so far so good,
maybe someone can help us out here, I really appreciate every little help,
thx a lot,
bernhard
