Hi there,

When running an Ambient Occlusion pass in Render to Texture I get a ShadowsMap result!

I am performing exactly the same procedure as I had previously in MAX 9 (Switch MR on, open RtoT dialogue, select object, tick Use existing Mapping box, select Add Ambient Occlusion (MR), map size up to 1024x1024, Samples up to 32 and hit Render.

But instead of AO I get basic ShadowsMap.

Any ideas? and asap please, this is getting in the way of my work (currently having to export the objects out and back in to MAX9 to bake off the texture then bring that back to 2008

It’s been 3 weeks since I asked this. Is it safe to assume that no one from Autodesk reads these forums?
A simple “oh, that is an issue, we’re working on it” would suffice.

My MAX dealer should also have asked this directly, but I have had no response from them.

What is the point of the Area if it is not for users who have spent a fortune on your software to get “official” assistance with it? Users helping users is all well and good, but you run in to the chance of it being the blind leading the blind, or in this case, no one seeming to know.

These are peer-to-peer forums not a means of obtaining support direct from AME and AFAIK never have been (not commenting on the rights and wrongs of this, just stating the facts as best I know them).

In addition to trying here and your reseller, you could submit a defect report here (if that fails to work, try sending a mail to ). Problem is that you’re unlikely to get a response though those reports ARE looked at.
Or you could raise a support incident here but that costs.
