I would like to know what kind of machines one can use to build a renderfarm for max.  Do you use blade like IBM’s or Sun’s?  How do you deal with the fact that max runs only on windows?

Use anything from the blades that you mention to the old computers hanging around in the office upgrade pile. Really anything with a CPU and Ram will help out in the rendering process.

Use windows.

Good one :)

Can backburner do the trick or do I need to buy another render queue.  I imagine I will need to because backburner doesn’t have many features, for example, if I use blades, many blades still act like only one computer and therefore I can only start one backburner server.  And because of that, I will need a render queue manager in which I can assign jobs to cpus. Correct me if I’m wrong…
