Greetings,

I’m working part-time for a small architectural firm where I do construction documents and some 3D illustrations.  Last week my boss decided to update my computer so he purchased an AMD Quad Core, 8 gig RAM, 1 gig Video Card, running Windows XP 64 Professional SP 1.  Yesterday my boss was informed that our software will NOT run on a 64 bit operating system.  Right now he’s refusing to install AutoCAD 2005 and Max 8 on the new computer until we find out whether or not these programs can run.

My boss is an older gentleman who’s not tech savy so any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Gerald

you can run max 8 on xp 64 bit just fine it will not use any of the 64 bit os features
max 8 will not see the 8 gigs of ram
you may want to put on sp2 on for xp 64

Works here. Definitely update XP64 to SP2. As mentioned, it’s a 32bit app so it cannot take advantage of any 64bit features, but it runs just fine.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.
