This problem may not be specific to 2008, but here goes:

When I create a section object, in the rollout it offers Section Extents radio button of 1) Infinite 2) Section Boundary 3) Off

There seems to be no difference between Infinite and Section Boundary.  I would think Section Boundary means that it will only cut a section within the extents of the section object, however it still creates a shape as if it is infinite. Is there a way to keep it within the bounds of the section object?

I thought it works based on the Section Length and Width parameters in the Section Size Rollout… that may not be on the Create Panel, it may be on the Modify Panel.

Yes. And I have Section01 set at 0.2m x 0.2m, which completley bisects the object in question. However, the object is knot-like and loops around itself. I only want the section for one part of the knot, however another part of the knot, about 1.0 m away is included when I hit Create Shape. So then I have to go into the resulting SShape01, and edit the spline to remove that other part.

This would not be a big deal for a few sections, but I need to do 400. I have a batch section script (thanks to MoonDoggie), which will speed up the section creation process, but I will still have to spend many hours deleting the unwanted portions of each section.

I see what you mean.... It seems to be a bug, but I haven’t used it enough to recall what would happen in Max9.  Got to go to work but I’ll look in at the end of the day.

I’ve started cutting the secitons, and with the batch script its not so bad. I can do like 30 or 40 at a time, attach the resulting splines and delete the unwanted portions of that group. Shouldn’t take long at all.

Though it would be nice if the bug could be fixed…
