Just downloaded Max 2008 trial and have been tyring to install on Vista Ultimate machine,with no end of grief.Seems to fail at .Net framework 2 hotfix install.

Anyone else have this problem or any ideas on how to install on Vista.

You must install as Admin. LUAs don’t have permission to install system processes like .net, MR and BackBurner.



Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

I have Admin. rights, I have also “run as Administrator” exe from disc with no joy.
Any more ideas ?

Have you got all the updates for Vista installed?

Is User Account Control turned ON or OFF?
Not sure about this but it may be some sort of authentication failure:

As stated above, could be a lack of full authorization to install into the selected folder:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/834484/en-us
Suggestion:
Go to the folder where the installer is trying to install Max, right click, go to Properties, Security and check if your authorization is right there.

Yes full permission right through C:\

Ok, just to be sure, you did check the actual root folder where the installer is trying to install, right?
Has the installer already created a Max 2008 root folder?
