Hello I need some help.

I need to create a water drop landing on a surface, but not dispersing too much when it lands....more of a squidge I guess…

the only problem is I have no idea how to go about it - lol

Please can someone point me the right direction.

Thanks

You might want to look into using Reactor Soft Body.

Here is a screen shot of the modifier panel for a Geosphere. I added a MeshSmooth on top so I would not need to increase the Geosphere segements beyond 8.

I think it was too big to post.
I’ll check at home tonight.

great thanks! I’ll see if I can sort out an FTP username and I’ll PM it to you, so you can upload it....if it’s too big ..and that you don’t mind :)

File size was one problem.
Version difference was the other.

Here is a Max 8 version. The simulation has not been calculated.
Go to the Utilities panel: Reactor, and click on Create Animation in the Preview & Animation rollout.

Great, thanks for that Tim! You’re really helping me learn alot more about 3dsmax.

The design has changed slightly....it’s now more of a jelly effect rather than water… e.g.

I’ve been playing with the settings for about 3 hours… I can’t get it like jelly....it starts bouncing all over the place!

Any ideas where I am going wrong?

Thanks

3 hours is not long enough. All the variables interact. Only change one at a time so you understand the effect.

In the reactor SoftBody modifier, adjust the Mass, Stiffness, and Damping.

Here is another one. More gelatin the jelly. (Took me over 2 hours to get it this far. I don’t do Reactor often.)
