Then go look on the 2nd DVD in the Samples directory - that’s where it is. If you don’t have DVDs then you have the trial and that map IIRC was indeed missing. Substitute another image as I suggested.

I’m sure that you’ve found the files by now. I just installed 2008. For some reason it opens a Materialslibrary file under My Docs, but doesn’t put anything in it. All the files were installed under Program Files\Autodesk\3dsMax2008\materials and materialslibrary. Crazy!

Annoying, but true. Look up “Project Path” in the help - that’s the culprit.
