I just bought a core 2 quad core 2.4 with 500 gig hard drive and 3 Gigss ram. The machine came with Vista Home Premium 32 bit. Should I buy the Ultimate 64 bit OS full version? I tried the upgrade which comes with a 32 or 64 bit each on their own disk. Can’t use the upgrade disk to go from 32 bit to 64 bit , weird eh?
Any way I am a little leary of this stuff and a lot confused. Some people tell me 64 bit is not caple of running some software I own. I am really at a loss herre as to what to do. Any solid advice here would be great.
Kind regards, Tom

3 gigs? Are you not running dual channel? That’s a mistake.... and 64bit runs just fine!

Vista Ultimate comes with both disks, otherwise you have to pay to get the 64 install.
Max 2008 is running great for me in Vista 64 as well as all CS3 Adobe products, also ZBrush 3.0 works great.
I’ve also had no problems with any games in 64bit other then BioShock which crash dumps on me so I put that one away for now.

Glad to hear that 64 bit is cool but it is no mistake I have 3 Gigs ofm Ram. 4 slots two with 1 gig sticks and two with 512 meg sticks.
Plan to go with two more 1 gig sticks when I upgrade to Vista 64 bit.

You’re saying that Max 2008 64bit runs just fine on vista x64? With Account Control ON? So we no longer have to run max x64 as Admin with Account Control OFF as we did with Max 9?
Thanks much,
ww
