You know that little flash thing that can be accessed from the Help menu and shows you the keymap/layout thingy? Well, it shows me a blank html page in my browser when I select it. Is this a new feature or some tired programmer forgot to put it in?

It’s there - but it doesn’t work for me either (from within Max).

Open Explorer (or My Computer), navigate to your Max2008 Install Directory and the hotkeymap.swf is in there. Just double-click it.

Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Ahhhh.... ok. now I see it. The actual movie name, and the source name that is referenced from the HTML file is different. Renaming the original “hotkeymap.swf” movie to “hotkeyMovie.swf” will solve it.

I’m still running the demo version and I thought for whatever reason AD disabled this feature in the demo mode. But apparently not.

We actually disabled it due to a random problem some people were having a couple years ago.  A new version of flash came out and it caused max to not launch on some machines.  I don’t think we ever were able to track down the source of the problem as it was so rare.  In the end we felt it was better to play safe then sorry.

Thanks for the clarification Shawn.

It launches IE and gives me “blocked content” warning probably due to my security settings. When I choose “Allow Blocked Content” the swf displays fine in the browser.

It launches Firefox and works fine if I double-click the file, doesn’t work from within Max though.
