Hello.
I have been having some problem with zooming and navigating in the viewport after i installed max 2008. When i use the scroll button to zoom it zooms way to much.. I’ve tried to adjust the “Wheel zoom increment” but with no result…
what have they done with the program !?!? it’s really hard to work with this problem :(

This should really be in the Max 2008 forum - this one is for problems/issues with the site, not the products.
Chances are your system scale is out of whack. Make sure the system scale and the display units are similar and are appropriate for the real world size of your model - don’t have system units of kilometers then try modelling something in mm.
I see no difference here between 9 and 2008 on the same system.

Try resetting the zoom once the scene is open. Press Z on the keyboard; try selecting something and pressing Z. Now, does the problem persist?

If your “scrolling zoom” is too fast, you can also play with the “Wheel Zoom Increment” value (Customize -> Preferences -> Viewports - bottom right of the dialog) . It will allow you to change the sensitivity of your “scrolling zoom”

I have the same problem. Just installed max2008 30 mins ago, and cant get any work done :) I’ve tried to set the system units and the wheel zoom increment value, but nothing helps… It’s really wierd, when i hit “z” and scroll back one “tap” it zooms a normal distance. But if i tap one more it zooms ALOT. When i tap two times the other way I’m waaay beyond where i started? This is wierd. Any suggestions?

If you change the System Units in an existing scene then you also need to re-scale all the objects appropriately.
Can you post the scene (or a small part of it which shows the problem) - “jumpy” zooming almost always occurs with either scaling issues or distance from the origin.

I’ll try rescaling all objects tomorrow. No chance to post the scene since it’s 3 982 296 polys and almost the same verts. Plus I’m not allowed :) But I’ll get back to this tomorrow since I’m done for today. Later
