I thought it was straight forward but mabye not.?

At the moment I just have sphere with a blue colour (material ID 1) applied to it.
At specfic times and moments, I would like to apply a red colour (material ID 2) to specfic faces of the sphere under the subobject mode, and stay there.

so that the sphere continuously over time gets red material on its faces.

i’m using poly select, and edit poly but its not working.

Is there a way to animate this?

thanks for your time. K

How about starting with all faces set to Mat ID1. Then a Volume Select mod, which may be animated. Then a Material Modifier, set to Mat ID2.
