What kind of “links”?
Are you using the Link Constraint controller?

Can you zip and post a Max scene file showing the issue?

If so, please state the version of Max you are using.

ok ive attached some screen shots.

its probably quite hard to make out because of the bones in the way!! but i’ll quickly explain what i’ve done..

there is the main carrot base and 3 stalks. i’m not sure why i decided to link the stalks to a sphere which is linked and hidden within the main carrot but i have. it seemed to do the trick on keeping the stalks within the carrot even when the carrot was bent really far to the side.

i’ve then created history dependant bones with assign to children and assign to root enabled. I’m not sure if this is correct, i just read up about it somewhere.

for attaching the bone to the main carrot i used the physique modifier on the carrot. I thought i did this for all parts but ive spent to past week doing so much fiddling that none of it makes much sense anymore. I’ve used the skin modifier and not the physique modifier on the stalks to keep them connected to the bone.

finally as you can see in the screen shots the carrot moves to where i wish between 0-100 frames. i tried to make the carrots stalks move a bit at 120 frames and moved the sphere linking the roots to the left (hoping this would move the whole carrot left). as you can see the sphere moves without the stalks (little pink blob with orange line going through it). and after clicking the last bone on each stalk and moving it out a bit the stalk stayed frozen in its last position and all that happened was this blue line linked to a green cross moved outwards.

i will cry with happiness if someone can figure this out for me!!! lol

thanks! xx
