| Attempting to use backburner (help)
Hello again, So I finished an animation of mine and I wanted to render it, and when my machine tries to render the first frame it gets half way through and then stops, I check my CPU usage and its at 100%. So i take it that my machine isnt powerful enough to render it so I am trying to use the backburner to use some other machines in the lab that I am in. But when i turn on net redner and then click render an error comes up saying: error retrieving configuration file, what am I doing wrong?

Yeah so i got everything to work but not how i wanted to, i am using the backburner and have multiple computers rendering my animation, but i dont beleive each computer is powerful enough to render each frame it is assigned to render. SO heeres my question: Can you multiple computers working on the same frame so it cuts down rendering time? I really dont understand why its taking so long all i have is a couple shapes and some text that moves. Could it be because i have the text’s visibility going form 0 to 1?? Someone please help.

Also I noticed that 100% of my CPU is being used and around 575 Mb of my 2 gigs of RAM is being used, does anyone know ho to utilize all of my memory?

How long is one frame taking? If the CPU shows it’s at 100%, it’s likely still rendering. And Max will use whatever RAM it can, so if it’s only using up 575, that’s likely all it wants and/or needs.
You can use multiple machines to render one frame by using the ‘split scanline’ option in the backburner job submission dialog (it seperates the image into strips, and lets several machines work on the different pieces before stitching them back together), but that’s not really going to help with animations, and will probably take longer overall with the extra networking/scene loading/ etc.
