After reading the other posts about linking 2 hands to an object, and having one hand driving an object and the second hand using the IK parameters in the Key Info panel, I have a question:

I am working with multiple bipeds carrying guns and need them to carry, point, shoot, and lay down their guns. This solutions given work for all these instances, as longs as both hands are holding the gun. When I need a hand to do something not involving a link to the gun, or if I need to lay the gun down, I cannot do so as the gun still wants to follow the hands, or vice versa.

Linking and Unlinking the IK or normal links is not animatable features. As well the IK Blending within the Key Info of the motion panel is not an animatable feature either.

At the moment my coworkers and I are using Link Constraints, but the issue with this is that when we export the BIP files to another scene the link constraints do not carry over.

Am I missing something? Doing something wrong? Or is there a simpler way?

Thanks in advance from the 3D Development of the Canadian Department of National Defence!

Hi,
For throwing a ball, which are the steps to link and unlink the sphere from the biped’s hand?
Thanks

Firstly, you should really create your own thread rather than adding it to an someone else’s.

Read the Max help on the Link Constraint, it contains a very good example of linking/unlinking one object to another.

Finally, please add your Max version, and brief system specs, to your signature. It helps greatly to know to which version of Max a question refers.

Max 4.2 through 2013.

NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
