Hi. im new here and have already a question. (pls excuse my bad english)

so here we go:

im creating a game with some friends and use 3ds max for character modelling. now im in the animationphase and want to use footsteps for at least the walk animations. The problem is that the engine we use cant manage the footstepformat after exporting. Is there a possibility to convert a footstepanimation into a normal freeform?

I hope you can help me
Kind regards

Yes, it’s probably easier to do as freeform animation rather than with footsteps, just set the poses and add keys, make use of Copy, Paste and Paste Opposite.
As a quick cheat, you could load a running BIP file convert to freeform and delete the COM horizontal keys.

Select the COM object (Bip01) In Track View or Dope Sheet You can see the Key tracks, Horizontal, Vertical and Turning. Move them or right click to alter values. Deleting them doesn’t work in all cases.
Look at the Character Animation tutorials, Freeform section to learn tha basics of freeform bip anim, like the walk cycle, or swim cycle, you can adapt this to make a run cycle.

i have already tried that. but when i click on horizontal or vertical there arent any keys displayed :S

in the turning section the keys are displayed normally.

do you know how thats possible?
