So my class is building a mod off of the unity engine, and we need to be able to merge some sort of 3ds max file to a anim. file.  I have no clue if its possible to do that.  Essentially we need to merge a already animated character with new animations, and then take those animations and merge them with new models.  So far they always turn out like crap.  I would appreciate any help or suggestions.

is the file type anim you want to import into max? you can import most stuff into max if not then you can look online

http://www.highend3d.com
http://www.maxplugins.de
http://www.amazing3d.com

These are quite big hitters in the animation world if these dont work then try looking into a website called polytrans, polytrans is a file conversion website http://www.okino.com/conv/conv.htm but you will need to buy the software
