Was wondering how to do this cool assembling animation effect in max.

I’m sure its not handkeyed. Any tips and sample would be appreciated.

I’ve no idea how exactly that was made, but if i were to create something similar i would do the following.

For all objects that are the same, i.e the walls of the buildings that are made up of lots of identical sections, the slabs support struts etc. Create the original asset, then use the mesher compound object and use that to make clones of then to populate the scene. Mesher has setting for offsetting animation, so once you animate the first piece you can delay the animation for “X” number of frames. To do this all animation has to be done with modifiers, like XForm etc. there is a tutorial here on the area somewhere that shows this using tables and chairs as an example, its pretty sweet.

For all objects that aren’t the same the animation would be the same, i.e their scaling up and moving into place so i’m sure there would be a script for that either here or on scriptspot.

if that doesn’t help, i hope at least it gives u a basis to start on.
