| Distingushing animation keys between Extremes, breakdowns and key poses.

Is there a way to mark keys as Extremes or breakdowns or the key poses during animation.
Something similar to the ‘tag’ reference on the time line.
For example, in hand drawn animation the artist can indicate which is which by using different colour pencils or by circling or underlying the number on the drawing.
I find that in 3D when I start shifting keys to get over lap and secondary movement the time line becomes very busy. There’s barely any gap between keys. I was hoping someone out there could tell me if there is a way to quickly identify which keys are from the original key pose.

I’m not an animator, but having just watched http://www.duber.tv/en/3ds-max/animation/roboball-animating-the-little-robot/ I get the idea that there are a few ways to manage busy tracks. In the video, when things got hairy, it was time to use the trackveiw.
More stuff completely unknown to me is animation layers, which to me, just sounds like something you could use:) Continuing on my wild guesses, check out ScriptSpot.com foor something that might do exactly what you want; in my experience, if you’ve thought of it, so has someone else and written a script to boot.
OK, this is already a few days old, so I’ll ease up on the guesses and let you respond :P
