Hello,
A newbie here. I’m animating a steam locomotive for Railworks train simulator, using Max 2010.I’ve attached a screenshot of my project. The animation works fine as shown. Bones 1 - 4 are shown in white. There is an IK Limb solver between bone 3 and bone 1(ignore the black arrow). The pivot of 3 (circled in yellow) is a fixed point. My question is this: Is it possible to have the pivot of 3 move horizontally (a very small amount) without losing the IK link between 3 and 1? So far, I’ve been unsuccessful. I know I can do this manually by moving the objects frame by frame, but using bones and an IK solver is much easier if it’s possible. Thanks for any help.

For what it’s worth, I’ve solved my problem. The trick was to move the IK chain, not the bone.
