I’m looking for a website/page with a tutorial for a walk cycle for a zombie, and other cycle animations for zombies, for a school project I’m working on.  Any reference material or suggestions would be very much appreciated.

The best advice i can give is to study 2d animation techniques and breakdowns of a typical 12 frame per step walk cycle and expand from there.

following along the biped tut that ships with Max will do nothing to further your understanding of character animation but will only lead you to a mechanical conclusion.you can follow step by step and the result will be a walk cycle but if you’re serious about character animation then study 2d fundamentals.it will be much more beneficial in the long run.

no offence to the above poster,he was helping out.

PS-stay away from Biped!!

This is good advice, but I’m not sure where I would begin.  Could you recommend me a source? Not to be an asshole, but particularly with zombies since that’s what I’m on at the moment...

I don’t follow.  Shouldn’t I be practicing as much as I can with it?

Not that I have much of a choice, in the situation I’m in, I have to use it…

you should start with the “Animators Survival Kit” book by Richard Williams. It’s pretty much the bible regarding character animation.
as for Biped.well, lets just say it’s pretty bad and woefully outdated for serious character work. There are penty of great free rigs on the net if you don’t want to build your own.and also CAT is now part of Max.

if you dont have cat you can download puppetshop and give that a try. he is saying stay away from biped because it tends to be hard to work with very tedious and mechanical
