Skin Modifier Distorts Clothing

Im new at Skinning. Im tying to figure out why the skin mod distorts or shifts my clothing. Anyone run into this before? Heres a jacket and model from Poser imported into Max.

Does the garment share the same skin mod as the skin? To do that select both objects, then apply the skin mod. They will them have instanced skin mods. Copy and Paste Instance does not have the same effect and have problems.

Yeah, I was just looking for the answer a few hours ago and saw that I needed to reset the envelope on the skin modifier.  Here is a quick and simple tutorial of the basics. I also found that painting on the envelope works best and paint your area blue around the yellow and red areas.
