3ds max 2009 and midi

Can anyone help me to get max 2009 to read midi controllers.....All my devices show up in MidiOX and I have midi in and out
to all my other audio applications. It would appear there is something missing within max..........what am I missing
I have an Edirol PCR_A30 as my primary controller.......Do drivers need to me installed within Max somewhere? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

PS. I hope I am posting in the right place. If not could someone kindly direct......? R
