3ds max 2009 design - disabled object attrubutes

Hi,

if i place (at example) a quader and i will change the obect attributes, then nearly all entries are grey disabeld.
this was not in former versions like that.
can someone help me?

You need to change from “by layer” to “by object”.

there is a setting in the preferences how new Objects are set .
In the Max/English version it sits on the “General"-Tab under “Layer Defaults”
and is called “Default to by Layer for New Nodes”. This should be deactivated.
Maybe ADESK changed the defaulft- prefs for the Design Version ... don’t know.....

They did - Customise > Custom UI and Defaults Switcher. Click one of the options (left) then read in the middle column what’s different.
The 2 non-design ones default to ByObject, the 2 Design ones default to ByLayer. Max 2009 Design as installed defaults to one of the 2 Design options (logically enough), therefore it’s on by default. Turning it off (ie back to ByObject) should work as you described.



Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.
