Hi All,

Having couple of issues on installing 3ds Max 2009 on windows XP Professional (64bit) and Windows Server 2003 R2 enterprise (64bit)
1) Tried to install 3ds Max 2009 from the DVD sent to us couple of months ago, it failed
2) Downloaded the current updated version on the Autodesk website, it failed to install.

We dont know what is going wrong here ? All the Framework, MSXML parser, .net etc are in place, but installation fails when it comes to install 64bit version of Autodesk 3ds max 2009.

Please find that attached log file.
Everytime it the same case

Machine configuration:
Intel(R) Xeon(R) @ 3GHz
8GB of RAM
Windows Server 2003 R3 Enterprise x64 Edition SP2

Will be thankful if anyone can sort out this problem.
Best Regards,
Adarsh

Cheers,
Adarsh

I have this exact same problem, with almost the exact same hardware and software setup. Anyone have any ideas?

i’m pretty sure max isn’t supported on windows server 2003, but i would of thought it would of installed. it should definetly install on xp64 and vista, have you tried reformatting the computers?

Actually I finally got it to work!  I’m not sure why, but when I disabled the installation of Mental Ray Sattelite it seemed to work.... for those who also have this problem, and don’t need MR Sattelite, I would recommend it.  It kept crashing on the “Registering COM+ ...” stage, I wonder if it has anything to do with Mental Ray Standalone being installed on my machine?!

- I’m running XP x64 by the way

cheers

glad you got it working, it probably was because you had MR stand alone installed, you might want to uninstall max and mr standalone and then reinstall max again with the MR sattielite so if you ever need MR distrubuted rendering its setup
