| 3ds Max not showing any codecs?
|
|
|
Hi, I’m enquiring about my 3ds max not showing any of my installed codecs.
When I go to render out as an .avi for testing purposes, all that shows up in the codec list is: Uncompressed, MJPEG, Xfire codec and DV Video encoder.
I know I have many more codecs installed on my computer, as I can use them in Camtasia Studio for video output.
What struck me as strange was not even the default codecs are there, such as Cinepak and Intel etc.
I am using Max 32 bit, on Vista Ultimate.

Maybe when you say “you have many more codecs installed on my computer” one is interfearing with the default codec that max uses.
Try unistalling the one you use Camtasia Studio and then try and use the max default codec. If this makes it work then you know it’s Camtasia Studio interfearing with the max one. If it still does not work then you know it’s not that one adn reinstall it

Are you absolutely positive you were using Max 32bit at the time? My Max 64bit shows only 3 of the 4 you mentioned, but the 32bit version shows some 22 different codecs (I have the K-Lite pack installed). Camtasia is, as far as I know, a 32bit app, which explains why you see far more codecs. There are very few 64bit codecs as yet, so very few show up in Max 64bit.
