I have a quick question about what causes the architectural materials to appear dark when I use the masonry template in the MR Arch Mat’ls. If I leave the material as default or switch to a flat mat’l the texture that I use appears and renders in exactly the same color as the image texture. When I use the masonry template the material no longer appears the same color - or luminance level? - as the original texture image.
Why is this? What causes this? Thanks.

It looks like the RGB Level under the Output rollout is set to 0.5 rather than 1.0 on a standard material.
Can someone explain what this is supposed to be for? Whats its purpose? Why did Adesk decide to set the default to 0.5? Is this because of the default material that gets assigned by default?
Just wondering.
