Hi to every 1 at AREA. Its my 1st time & am expecting some help...wud appreciate it. THX

I have a little problem in modeling a car. I want to attach a curved surface with turbosmooth modifier applied to a basic surface like a cube etc., but when i attach both, the outcome is curved for the cube as well...any help is appreciated.

Thanx

Maybe a screenshot would better explain what you’re trying to do. For terminology sake, there is a difference between a shape (which you can “merge” with a mesh), and a surface (which is a mesh and can’t be merged in the same way) Either way, have a look at ShapeMerge in the help files, since I’m guessing thats what your trying to do.

hey all...I hope that the attached picture is explicable enough (By the way the picture is of the area where the side view mirror of a car will be attached). The Pic. 1 is what i made but has NOT been applied Turbosmooth modifier, but want to attach it to a polygon that has Turbosmooth modifier applied to it. So after attaching the Pic. 2 is the end result. Which is what i dont want. The problem is that if i dont attach the body of the car & the pic it all looks so fake. Any Suggestion/Help is appreciated...please help. Thx

Apart from this can i know how to make the car look real, like right now the car has seperate parts like door, glasses, headlights, roof etc., would attaching all of them be a good idea or keeping seperate at the right position be better.

does anyone know any good car design sites, books or any helpful material…

You can set Turbosmooth to Separate by Smoothing Groups. If you set this then go to the Edit Poly/Mesh before the Turbosmooth and alter the smoothing groups of the faces, you may get what you want.
