I hope this isn’t a dumb question, but is it possible by maxscript or otherwise, for Max to warn me say 5 seconds before it Autosaves ? I find it incredibly annoying when I’m modeling big scenes. I’ve suffered the loss of data enough times from turning autosave off.

or If it could throw up a requester/reminder Autosave - Yes - No - Remind Me In 30/60/120 secs.

If it gave a little beep/request 5 / 10 seconds before it saved, I’d feel like Max was working with me instead of against me ;)

No need to repost - all the post is actually there.

Edit it, and remove any less-than or greater-than sysmbols - the forum s/ware barfs on them.

[edit] Actually, you can use them if you write them as HTML.
& lt ; (without the spaces) for less-than, and & gt ; for greater-than.
Like so :- < and > :) [/edit]

I agree...I have complained about the rigidity and poor decisions made when the Max Autosave was designed. Why not just ask if we want to save?

Also, here is my biggest beef: the timer should NOT start until the user does something!...isn’t that just basic logic?  The way it works now, when you begin a Max session, the timer starts and it does not stop until you exit.  If your interval is 15 minutes, it seems to check at each 15 minute mark if you have made ANY changes in that time, and if you have, it autosaves.  This means, if my phone rings, and I manually save before answering it, then I talk for 14 minutes, hang up, and make a single action in my Max scene, the autosave will occur at the 15 minute mark as if I had been working away furiously.  This bugs me a lot!

In any event, one way to minimize the annoyance is to make sure “compress on save” is UN-checked...this speeds up the save a lot!
