A simple question about camera matching- I wonder if anyone knows how to zoom in on the bitmap so I can get an accurate placement of the point to dummy matches to.
any help much appreciated

You can set the background image to zoom with the viewport (ALT-B and the checkbox is labeled Lock Zoom/Pan).  I’ve had problems with the image resetting it’s position when changing this setting, so it may not work like you need it to.

Hello,

I have a related question.  Let’s say you have used the camera match utility on a photograph of a building and solved for the camera.  Is there a way to zoom in on the background image from the viewport of the Camera that was created in the matching utility?  In other words, I have some small items I would like to place in the scene where I “see” objects in the background image, and I need to place them accurately.  Can I zoom in without moving the camera or changing any camera parameters...sort of like magnifying a certain region of the field-of-view covered by the new camera?

Thanks!
Jeremy

Wow...I’ve had this question for so long, but never asked it.  The second I finally ask the question, I figure out the answer :-) All I needed to do was Left-click on the [+] in the top left of the viewport, choose “Configure”, then adjust the “Virtual Viewport” so that it was zoomed in to my area of interest.  Whew...thanks for reading…

Yes.  There is a way to zoom into just a region of a viewport.  It is called Virtual Viewport, and I can’t say I’ve ever used it on purpose, but I recall accidentally enabling it and spent a half day figuring out how to undo it.

Best bet is hitting F1 for the help file and read up a little.

BUT, it only works with OpenGl.  No Direct3D. :(
