| Charcoal Gray UI in MAX 2009 (Gary & Don)
|
|
|
How do you set the UI in MAX 2009 to the Charcoal gray settings as seen in Combustion? I’m in the Custom User Interface dialog, but there are too many individual settings [elements] to adjust. Is there one setting that is already “Saved AS” that I can just load or do I need to change each element… ie. text, grid, background.....blah blah blah..
Thanks,
KEnn

You can go to Customize>Load Custom UI Scheme and then load the AME-Dark.ui file in the UI folder. That has everything setup to be darker, not sure if it’s the exact color as combustion.

This is a file that Gary Davis shared with the forum a while back. He uploaded another one with two color schemes - one for Combustion and one for Toxik, but I can’t seem to locate it.
Anyhow, here it is.

Okay, I found the thread in the Forum Archive, but there’s no attachment:

Gary or Don, if you’re reading this would you mind sharing that file with the forum? Thanks. :-)

I’m sure I’m not the Don being summoned in this thread since I wasn’t involved (that I remember) with the original topic cited here.
On my part, what I have done is (yes) change an element, then hit the Apply Colors Now to be certain what it is that I just changed.
If you are unhappy with the latest change hit the Reset Button next to the color swatch to restore it to it’s previous value
or continue to make adjustments. Eventually, you will learn what most of the named items are.

Gary’s color scheme’s can be found on his site > Freebies > Defaults & dark interface colors for 3ds Max. Here is the direct link to the zip file.

Yes, it is you Don. I edited the thread title. See my link in the post above. Evidence is in the pudding. :)

Ah, ok, does look familiar now, I didn’t offer any advice in the thread that’s probably why I didn’t think about being involved.
Thanks, Anna.
Edit: Oh, for got to mention:
Welcome to the Max Discussion Forums, Eric!
I see you’ve been getting busy here lately. :)
I haven’t seen you around other than on the nPower Forums,
I know you have a lot to offer anyone working with PowerNURBS and Max.

You can find me on CGTalk. Just getting back to posting here, use to visit a lot more when it was the old Discreet forums. It was really the Combustion forums that brought me over, but thought I would spread my knowledge through here as well.
