I just upgraded from MAX 9 and in Max 9, I could press the shift key while draging an object and that would clone the object and you could select how many you wanted to clone.  I can’t do that in MAX 2009. You have to right click to get the pull down and then go to clone.  They don’t give you the option to select how many you want to clone.  Is that a hot key that needs to be set somewhere?

Kenn, I have to say that it works fine here.  I Shift-Click-Drag all the time to clone.  And even using the Quad menu, it always asks me how many and what type.

Sounds like something is a little wonky with your installation.  Did you do any customization or anything?  Do you have all the service packs installed?

You can no longer hold Shift and then click on an object to have it clone in place, but if you click and drag it will clone. Could that be the issue you’re seeing?

If it is the problem Neil states, then ctrl + v may be an alternative for you or rc and choose clone, but you cannot choose to make more than one clone. Ok, so how about making an array, without inputting any translations of course - keeps it in place and gives the same number/clone type options in the dialogue as shift + dragging does. You could make a hot key or toolbar button for this.
