When you open the material editor in a new scene, it opens with a hand full of default materials. Is there a way I can pre-load the editor with materials that I have created?

TIA

Sure.

In Docs&Settings\blah blah\enu\defaults\(your max config here**)\ is a file called Medit.mat. That is the library used to populate the Mat Editor when you load Max or do a File | Reset.

Rename the existing one, create a new material library (with 24 materials in it) and save it as Medit.mat in the above directory.

** “your max config here” will probably be “designviz.mentalray”.

Steve,

Thanks! I’ll give it a try.
