| Displacement problems (I give up!)

Hi,
Has anyone had this issue when displacing around corners? What am I missing? I have almost all of my exterior done only to see this result. Hopefully it can be fixed without remodeling. Can someone help?! I’m using an A&D mat with an image in the displacement slot controlled by mental ray render tab settings..

Nothing changed. I did find out that if I want the displacement to work perfectly, I have to keep the mapping such a way where it doesn’t tear or break across edges or use a texture map with a noticeable tiling problem. However, knowing all of this does not help be perfect my brick displacement on the house I’m making.
Does anyone else have any help to offer on a good way to have multiple angles of a displaced surface come out correctly? Currently in limbo while I find an answer :(

One way to solve this is to isolate the most obvious areas and stitch the UVs together. Other areas you may be able to hide with some trim overlays. But in general you have some difficult edges here, the masonry would have to be carefully cut to solve them, so you must do the same with your “virtual” grout.

Thanks for your help. I guess I will have to build this as it should be in real life. You’re right about using a trim as well. I could build a real brick and grout stack as an accent on the corners to hide the seams. I really like the displacement so far and want to keep it. That would be the only way. Thanks again.

I’ve had some success doing an Edit Mesh and assigning smoothing groups to each side. That way it smooths the material from one side to the other and should be identical at the corner. So make one side 1 and 2, make the next side 2 and 3, the next 3 and 4, and the last 4 and 1 (assuming you don’t need brick on the top and bottom).
Try that and let me know how it works out for you.
