i’m on max 2009 on win seven with a problem:
in configure user path if i add a sub dir, or sub/sub dir, max add only and always the x:/dir, the first dir of the path. so i can not add correctly every sub directory i’m interested.
I’ve tried to load the mxp file from old max2009 on xp64, but add only some paths.
Can i modify directly the dir stored in user path of max? i don’t know, maybe some ini file??

Unless this is a Win7 issue (which I can’t test) then it seems to work perfectly here - even on UNC network paths.

Navigate into the folder you require, tick the “add subpaths” checkbox, click Use Path.

Only thing I can think of is if your access rights (to the folder you selected) do not include permission to access the subdirectories within it.

Those paths seem to be stored in 2 places:-
3dsMax.ini (always)
In the .mxp file for the current project, but only when you create a new project as it appears to use the current settings when doing so. The existing .mxp doesn’t appear to be updated on-the-fly.

If you intend to try editing either of those files manually, make sure Max is closed first, and make a copy of the file before changing it.

You should try and find out what the root cause is - and fix that.

It’s not (or as best I can see) Max itself, which leaves Windows and its infernal permissions system. You’re on your own with that - no W7 (or vista) here.
