Hello, just a follow up to this question - I have DBR and BB running no problem however when I remove a few nodes from a particular DBR Master (if the node is needed by the user in odd hours), the removed node continues to render despite restarting the mental ray AND backburner service on the master. The nodes listed in the rayhost file also continue to render despite the master being listed as unavailable or being removed from the job in BB entirely. Since DBR computers do not show that they are rendering in BB manager, we cannot keep track of whether or not this error is occuring without actually connecting to the node remotely or getting a call from the user.
-- I’m submitting the job to “DBR Masters” in BB with DBR enabled in render setup (with no nodes selected).
Any suggestions for what I’m doing wrong here would be great! Thanks,
Jason

It sound like the render nodes you are using are PCs that people work on during the day, nothing wrong with that but I think the DBR teams method is maybe not best suited for that kind of setup, more for dedicated nodes. I tend to render sequences on BB without DBR, I occasionally use teams if I have timeout problems on slow frames. I only really mentioned it as a workaround for the title of this thread, and another method of net-rendering for people to be aware of that may be useful in some circumstances. It’s by no means the definitive way to net-render, just another option to consider if it fits your needs.
