| Exit Isolation Mode button missing
|
|
|
I am stuck in Isolation mode. I cant find the button. Is there a way to get out of it with out the exit isolation mode button? I currently have to save it and open it another computer resave and open it back up on mine. I have tried a restart and its still missing. Any clues. The little bugger is MIA. I really just want my button back!
Any help please and quick.
Thanks

Have I got this right?
Load Max
Load a scene which was saved with an object Isolated
Get the Warning dialog about Isolated objects (OK it)
Alt-Q appears to do nothing?
On my system, selecting the Isolated object then pressing Alt-Q brings up the button.
Beyond that - I don’t know. It’s location does not appear to saved either in the 3dsmax.ini file or in the scene. After reloading Max it is always in the same position on screen.
Max 4.2 through 2013.
XP-64 (SP2)
NVidia 9800GTX-512 (Driver 266.58).
Core 2 Quad Q6600 2.4GHz, 8Gb Ram, DX9.0c.

Sometimes it just disappears.
Generally, if you right click and “unhide all”
BUT
when it asks you to unhide all layers as well - SAY NO.
This is the process that i always use when my “Isolate Selection” button goes away.
Its exactly the same as clicking the button.

Thanks for the responces.
Yes, thats how I have been exiting Isolation mode (right click and hit unhide all.) I am just missing my button. It is so much more efficient if i can just hit the button. It doesnt matter if I saved the seene with something isolated or not. It is every sceene I open up in 2009. Its a pain not to have Isolation mode, since I have seenes that currently are in the 20 million poly count range I am in and out of isolation mode all day long. I doo all of my work in Isolation mode.
I have restarted both max and my machine. I have reloaded new and old custom UI. If I open the sceene on another computer its right there on the screen. Its like its off my screen, I have reset my resolution, I have switched off the other moniter.
Any other ideas how to get the button back?

Its back! There was a resolution problem with the second moniter. I unpluged it and walked throught the display settings again and it came back. Aparently it was just out of range to fit it on the screen.
Thanks for any help and the time you took to read on this subject.

Have you by any chance tried to load a (custom) UI from a previous version of Max? If so, that is likely the cause of your problem - it is something you should never do. It cause no end of difficult to diagnose problems.
There is something clearly very wrong as loading a scene NOT saved in Isolation mode should not load in Isolation mode.
You could try using the Custom UI and Defaults Switcher (on the Customise menu) but be aware that you will lose most, if not all, customisations you may have made.
