The linked ADT 07 file is giving me a FATAL ERROR:  Unhandled Access Violation Writing 0x6fbeb0a4 Exception at 7814510ch message.  If I replace that file with a “recovered” file, will material assignments and transforms be lost?

If you are talking about going in to ADT, purge, audit then the entity item naming should remain.
If you have the preserve max matertials selection on in the dwg link, they should be fine. The transforms are very ify. Sometimes with the same name that info will retain, sometimes not. I would certainly back up the existing link file, but at this point what choice do you have?

Purge and/or Audit did what I needed it to do.  I was then able to save the dwg.  Thank you. Your fast reply enabled me to resolve the issue and finish the job.

Since the audit found no errors, I don’t understand what caused the FATAL ERROR.
