Help! I am using 3DS Max Design 2009 and am not able to link or import a 3D Architectural Model (.DWG) from Autocad Architecture 2009 in a usable form. 3DS Max renames AEC sub components into their main component name, or combines them into one object. Example: All windows in my model become the same “Window” with no mullions, frames, jambs, glass etc. All components are renamed “window”
This occurs with all walls, doors slabs etc. The imported data is completely useless as I cannot select by name or in many cases need to go to the sub-object level in order to select some items like door panels or window glass. I have asked Autodesk about this and their response was “ we have been able to duplicate the problem you are having and .......” this was two months ago and still no response.
I do not want to change to the 32 bit version [it does import the data as expected] . Is anyone else having this problem and have you had any success in getting a solution (or response) from Autodesk?

flm works good in max design 2009 on vista 64bit here .
do not use “Create one scene object for each AutoCAD Architecture one” in the File Link Setings - Advanced panel .
this will rename your objects also (all walls will have the the name “wall") without numbering but you can select sub objects by material - if you have render materials in your dwg file ...
good luck . oliver
