When I try to apply the Hair and Fur modifier to an editable poly there is the following message :
“ Error creating file “
and Hair and Fur doesn’t make any hair !

It is new, up to now it worked well, and I think it perhaps is a problem with Vista which is blocking with one of their updates ?
Thanks.

Hi beji,

I had the same problem, here is the solution:

1. Right-click on your 3dsmax folder ("C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 9") and choose properties.
2. Open the tab “Security”.
3. Press the button “...Edit”
4. Select the usergroup “Users”.
5. Make sure the checkbox besides “Write” and below “Allow” is checked.
6. Press OK and the “Error creating file” error should no longer trouble you.

I hope it works for you,

Cheers!

Hi,
Vista doesn’t allow me to do what you advise me, but it is because I do not run Max as an administrator but as a user. If I open Max as an administrator H&Fur works normally. I am lucky that Vista only blocks H&Fur !
Thanks.
