When switching views, I have shortcut buttons setup. “R” for right view. “P” for perspective. “A” for Rotate View. What would be nice is if when I chose to rotate the view, the viewport would automatically switch to perspective view or when I hit “Z” for zoom view. I just hate trying to , zoom in close, not being able to, and finding out Im not in perspective view. Then I have to hit “P” for perspective, then “Z” to zoom! Aaaaaagghhhhh! Am I just getting spoiled?
Maybe I can fire up Maxscript listener and record the keystrokes that way?

u can use the mouse wheel for zoom, and ctrl+alt+ mouse wheel button for precise zoom, and alt+wheel button to rotate
so when i want to manipulate the view i make sure its a perspective or an isometric(user) and choose the arc-rotate option because u have more options than with the alt shorcut, also remember alt is used for precise movement in most tools
