Hey all,

I have a rather odd looking creature which is in need of some fur. I want it to be relatively short fur that follows the contours of the creature.  I have tried using the hair and fur modifier, but results have all been unsatisfactory.  Does anyone know where I can find a really good tutorial for either the hair & fur modifier or a way to make a decent particle based fur setup (or both)? Countless internet searches have all yielded the same basic tutorials. Also I am planning on animating my creature, is there any advantage to one method over the other, or will either one work?

Thanks

I haven’t really looked for H&F tutorials, so I don’t have much there for you. I have read through some threads at cgtalk.com that offer some good tips and tricks for H&F though.

And I’d say the main difference betweeen a particle based system and the H&F modifier would be that you can add dynamics to the H&F modifier so it moves with the motion of the character. There is also the way H&F renders and how it interacts with lights.
