I have a scene that was built on top of an imported AutoCAD plan using Autodesk VIZ 2008. When attempting to open this scene for revision using our newly installed MAX Design 2009, the MAX session crashes before the scene is completely loaded.
After an hour of troubleshooting I have found the Imported CAD data to be at fault for the crashes.
If this data is removed while in VIZ 2008 and saved in VIZ 2008, the file works “perfectly” in MAX Design 2009.
If the scene is merged into MAX Design 2009 with the CAD data included, the scene is navigatable but is very tempermental and will crash upon attempting to save.
Regards,
beestee
EDIT: I am running MAX Design 2009(64-bit) and VIZ 2008(32-bit) on Windows Vista Business(64-bit).

I have a LOT of scenes that are just as you describe: plan/elevation lines imported from Autocad and geometry created in Viz 2008, etc. I haven’t run into the problem you describe yet, but I have only opened a limited number of Viz scenes from Max. Can you isolate the Autocad objects that are causing the problem? Have you tried this: open the scene in Viz, save selected only the Autocad objects, then try merging some of them into Max until the crash happens?
