I’m sure that someone has practical experience with this:
Can I install 3ds max on a non system drive? Any drawbacks or sideffects? The OS ist Vista Business 64bit.

Thanks,
Andrea

You can, but there are files that are installed that need to be on the same drive as your OS. If you are hoping to install on an external drive and take it so you can use it on any computer....it won’t work.  Is that what you are trying to do?

Thank you Dean for your answer. I don’t want to install on a external drive - just not C, because the system drive might be to small for all the programs (and their 32bit counter parts, the different versions you need to use because of compability or stability issues, plus mail folders etc).
What I need to decide is what is easier and save enough: Changing the system configuration or installing programs on a non-system drive. The whole questions comes up because the configuration of my harddiscs can’t be changed that easily because of a combination of RAID 0 and partitions on the first drive.

OK...then it should work alright if you install on a non-system drive.
