Hi

I have a client that first required some rendered images of a development. As per usual I built the model and used MR Materials and Sun/Sky etc.

He now would like an interactive animation so that his clients can move around the development. But the problem is he wants the quality of the interactive animation to be as good as the rendered images.

I have looked at quest3D. But this only allows you to use standard materials also it does really render, so you don’t get lighting effects on materials and the overall quality of the Quest 3D animations look pretty poor. Also I would have to re-texture the whole model with standard materials.

Does anybody have any experience of any interactive animation packages that give good quality animations.

One thought I had was if I rendered all the building to texture that this may get over the problem with having to use standard materials. This is just a thought as I have never used render to texture before.

First of all , for a real time scene , you would need to see if all is modeled ok , i say , low poly , vertex connection , ..., and all the models
that has the same material aplied are attached on one mesh .

for conversion from mray mat to standard mat , by hand , or create a maxscript to do it now and for the future projects .

And for having some quality similar of renders , the way is render to texture .
You have quest3d or VisuAll digitalarts for real time thing , and many more engines , but this two , gives better quality .

On the future will be RC5 from feversoft , that not bake and has its own technology , but is a need to see it on action and
prove how it works on a real projects basis - render times - quality . This is a product that many people is waiting
ansious to see what is capable to do .

I think the biggest problem you have is the modeling thing , if you did it not thinking on real time ( say this without knowing nothing
about the project ) , and too , forget mental ray to bake , if you dont want to dead on the try . For bake , go with Vray , has many
fidelity between the renders of prove you made and the final bake .
Or radiosity , but with this , you can find problems with some objects baked related to the need of subdivision and
smoothing groups .

Good luck¡¡
